Saona Island with Alto de Chavon
- Duration: 9 Hours (approx.)
- Product code: SANOAISL
The Saona Island full day trip departs from Bayahibe by Speed Boat or by Catamaran, making a stop in the vicinity of El Penon, coral rocks that were under sea level thousands of years ago and now protected as part of the National Park of the East.
This selection also includes a visit to Alto Chavon. Altos de Chavón is a re-creation of a Mediterranean style European village located atop the Chavón River in La Romana, Dominican Republic. It is the most popular attraction in the city and hosts a cultural center, an archeological museum, and an amphitheater.
You will also enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and local habitat. We will stop at the Natural Pool so you can enjoy a swim or just relax with a drink of rum, soft drinks, or water. We continue the journey to the Canal de Caturano, where you can see mangroves, the separation of the Spanish and Saona islands,as well as the confluence between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. We will continue toward the old Caturano dock. This area is a great spot to observe schools of fish, or seeing exotic birds of the area.
We will arrive at Saona Island Beach where you can enjoy the sun, sand, and the water. We will have lunch at approximately 12:45 p.m. The menu consists of grilled fish, grilled chicken, mixed rice, pasta in bechamel sauce, pasta with pomodoro, potatoes sauteed in garlic sauce, salad greens, and bread. Dessert will include two types of fruits, sponge cake, and coffee. There is a bar with beer, soda, and water available. We will also entertain you with a dancing track with animation at 2 p.m. The tour will return at 3 p.m.
